Play 101 by Etude Slim Layered Cushion

Play 101 is a Daiso-exclusive Etude sub-brand launched in February 2025 with 25 SKUs. Etude's own site does not list Play 101 among its product lines, and Olive Young carries no Play 101 cushion. It comes off the same production line as Etude's retail cushions: both name Cosvision, Amorepacific's manufacturing subsidiary, as manufacturer and Etude as responsible seller. Can I buy it outside Korea?

How is the Daiso version different from the original?

Same factory, different formula. Both this cushion and Etude's retail cushions list Cosvision — Amorepacific's own manufacturing subsidiary — as manufacturer with Etude as responsible seller, and both are triple-functional cosmetics. Twelve ingredients are common to this cushion and the retail Cloud Filter Cushion, including the same UV filters and the same whitening and wrinkle actives. But each declares ingredients the other does not: this one uses cyclopentasiloxane, diisostearyl malate and isododecane, the retail cushion boron nitride, polymethylsilsesquioxane and trisiloxane. So they are built the same way without being the same product (checked 2026-08-31).

How much cheaper is it than an Etude retail cushion?

Three times cheaper per gram at list price. This is 5,000 KRW for 15g, or 333 KRW per gram; Etude's 15g Cloud Filter Cushion refill lists at 15,000 KRW, or 1,000 KRW per gram, narrowing to about 1.7 times at Olive Young's 8,550 KRW sale price. A full retail cushion kit with case and refill runs 34,000 KRW (checked 2026-08-31).

Is it a functional cosmetic?

Yes, triple-functional — UV protection at SPF50+ PA+++, plus whitening and wrinkle improvement. Titanium dioxide and homosalate provide the UV protection, niacinamide the whitening claim and adenosine the wrinkle claim. The listing also records a skin irritation test run by Amorepacific's R&I centre on 31 adults in December 2025.

Is it vegan certified, and does it contain petrolatum?

No vegan certification mark appears on the Daiso Mall listing. Petrolatum, mineral oil and paraffin are all absent from the declared ingredient list (checked 2026-08-31).
